National Energy Administration (NEA)

The National Energy Administration (NEA) is a state administration in China, operating under the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). Its responsibilities include formulating the country's energy strategy, implementing energy policies, and regulating various energy sectors such as coal, electricity, oil, gas, and nuclear power. The NEA also supports research on energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. Additionally, it used to be in charge of planning China's national reserves of oil and gas, but this role was transferred to the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration in 2018. The NEA also manages the Office of National Energy Commission, an interagency body under the State Council that aims to enhance strategic energy decision-making.
