© GIZ
The overall objective of the PEZA-GTZ initiative for establishing a Management Approach to the Eco-Industrial Development of Philippine Economic Zones, referred to as the EID Project, was the improvement of the environmental management of selected industrial zones and companies located in special economic zones. On the pilot scale the project focused on the two economic zones of Mactan Island, Cebu.
Through the project, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority received support in building up appropriate services based on integrated management concepts of Eco-Industrial Development. PEZA was guided through pilot implementation such as Integrated Waste Management, Wastewater Management, Energy Management and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as well as institutional capacity development. An integral component of the project was the dissemination and replication of successful EID activities also in other industrial zones.
